We’re recruiting for an experienced Senior Technician to join an established and busy automotive dealership in Ipswich. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Technician looking to take the next step in their career, with a strong basic salary of up to £39,000 plus an additional £8,000 earning potential through performance-related bonuses.

The Role
As a Senior Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the workshop, responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs across a diverse range of vehicles. You will support the wider workshop team by sharing your expertise and ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include diagnosing faults accurately, performing complex repairs, and maintaining excellent workshop efficiency and customer satisfaction. You will also be expected to mentor and guide less experienced Technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out servicing and routine maintenance on various vehicle makes and models, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment and software, such as diagnostic scanners and multimeters.
  • Completing complex repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting, to a high standard.
  • Conducting thorough vehicle inspections and health checks, identifying potential issues before they become significant problems.
  • Supporting less experienced Technicians by providing guidance, training, and sharing best practices to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed, including parts used and time spent on each job, to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Working efficiently to meet workshop targets and deadlines, contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Following all health and safety regulations and manufacturer standards to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician or Senior Technician, with a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance.
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional approach and strong work ethic, with a commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Relevant automotive qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and any additional certifications (e.g., City & Guilds, IMI).
  • A full UK driving licence, enabling you to test drive vehicles and perform road tests as necessary.
